The True Story of the Cow that Jumped over the Moon

Bess is an Everafter, the 'human'alter-ego of the cow who jumped over the moon. She used to work at the Golden Egg as a singer, living amongst the Faerie community in New York City where she was girlfriend to Tony Fats. Eventually, after the events of Once Upon a Crime, she leaves him for Ernest Hamstead, and the two eventually get married and have their own family.

She is a beautiful blonde woman when she is in her human form. In addition, she has a rocket pack, which she can use to fly.

Arc in Story[]

Bess had been living in Faerie, working as a sultry singer for the audience of the Golden Egg. She was the girlfriend of Tony Fats but the relationship was seemingly unusual. After Titania flies into a rage upon hearing about the death of her husband, the Everafters flee from the bar as the Faerie Queen causes chaos. Hamstead finds Bess cowering as the Queen edges closer to her and so he goes to save her - Bess thanks him profusely.

Backstory[]

The short story The True Story of the Cow that Jumped over the Moon tells of Bess's background as a super-smart cow who was inspired to build a rocket ship after seeing the Apollo 11 moon landing on TV.

Trivia[]

Coincidentally, in the first book, Relda states that she has never heard of a cow that jumped over the moon, but she is in fact the cow.
